Were did all the time go?

I just had an email exchange with a co-worker about our health and how we feel. He was talking about turning 50 in 5 years and wondering how bad he would feel then considering how “crappy” he is feeling at 45 and he wondered if he would make it to 60. I told him that I understood. I only have 7 weeks to go until I reach the golden age of 60 and some days I wonder if I can make it that long.

Then the discussion changed to how I am looking forward to retirement in 6 years and spending quality time with the hubby and how those should be the best years of our lives.

Six long years to go until the last day of work.

It reminds me of being in elementary school and waiting for summer vacation. It is January and you have 6 months to go until the last day of school in June when summer vacation starts. At that age months are like years. I think when I retire it will be like that last day of school when you hit that door running. All that joy you feel in the freedom you will have for the next 2+ months of no more school.

Then I stopped to think about the past 6 years and how fast they have flown by and all the things that have happened. All 3 of my children have gotten married. My oldest daughter joined the marines and the months she spent in Iraq were very long indeed. And then all the wonderful things she experienced when she was in the Far East for a few months. My youngest daughter started and graduated from college and is now a Mother of a 1 year old that she calls Pudge, a name which is cute now but will cause him no end of problems when he is older and it gets out to his buddies if she doesn’t drop it by then. And a great son that is doing all he can to take care of his wife and himself.

We almost lost my Mom in 5 year ago and then again this year. Another story for another day.

But all this rambling is really to say the time goes so slow when you are looking forward to something but oh so fast when you look back. I was just married several years ago, no wait that was 40 years ago.

Well just enjoy every day as fully as you can with all the love you can give and receive. May the love of God be your light in everything you do.

Let me know if you have any comments it would be nice to hear from you.

First comments to the internet

OK here is my first comment on my brand new blog. My wonderful daughter wanted to help me set this up but I needed to try it myself. I know I will be asking her a million questions because she has already had several blogs and web sites she has created. Her most current is http://electladys.blogspot.com/. Her site is designed more for the younger crowd with young children and school age kids because that is where she is in her life. More about her and the rest of the family as we go along. Today is for me to get started on this new outlet for words. My site is more for everyone, I hope.

Some days I will probably use it as a sounding board for the day’s frustrations with family, friends, home and work. Other days it will be a sounding board for the day’s highs and pride in family, friends, home and work. So, I guess, comments on my life as I see it.

If anyone is interested great I would welcome your comments or just a note that you stopped by. But this is more for me to get the words that roam through my head at night and keep me awake out so maybe I can be more relaxed and then a better person.

Well here it goes my first posting. I hope to keep up with this daily and if you find something interesting whether for good or bad let me know. Ask my family I am never afraid to defend my opinions, right or wrong. Did you ever wonder how an opinion can be wrong? Well that’s for another day.
